FAQs - Remote Play Experiences

How does it work?

During your appointment time, you will connect with your chosen team mates and our Adventure Rooms Canada game master via Zoom video conferencing. We will be your feet and hands, and provide you live streaming of what is actually occurring inside the game as you direct us through all of the games obstacles and puzzles.

You can play in groups of a minimum of 2 players per team as you collectively attempt to solve the escape room together.

It's the next best thing to being there.

How much does it cost?
As these Remote Play experiences mimic the 5 star real life escape room adventures that we are known for, and provide you with a live stream play through of a real Adventure Rooms Canada game, complete with your own personal host, the cost per player is in line with our regular in-person experiences:  $25 + HST per player for 3 or more players.  The price for 2 players is $28 + HST each. Please note that these games are billed per person and not per connection. Should you have additional players at the event that were not included in the original order, we will charge the difference to the card on file during your experience for ease.
Recommended Age?
As these mimic our in-person experiences, the games are appropriate for all ages. All of our escape the room games are equally suitable for children and are regularly played by groups of kids that have thoroughly enjoyed their adventure – regardless of escape! 😉  It’s a great choice for things to do for children and families.
How long does it take?
You will have 60 minutes to solve your adventure with our live host.  Please have all team members logged into Zoom about 5 minutes prior to your appointment to ensure that we can begin right away.
What is required for Gameplay?
You will need access to any device that is capable of connecting to Zoom.  This can be a cell phone, tablet, laptop or computer, etc.

We also recommend:
  • pen and paper
  • your senses of adventure and humour
Can I send this experience as a gift?
Yes, absolutely!  You can send the access /confirmation information to anyone you either wish to play with, or to grant access to, anywhere in the world.

Alternatively, if you purchase one of our "email" gift certificates, the balance can be applied to these experiences by using the gift certificate's barcode during the booking process.

Or simply purchase an email gift certificate and send it to the intended recipient, who can then book their own Remote Play experience at the time of their choosing.
Online Crime-Solving Adventures (Self-Directed)

Online Game Information:

This is a 100% browser-based online game – more specifically a Murder Mystery or Crime-Solving (non-escape) game that can be played at any time.

It’s a perfect communal experience (multiplayer):  We recommend using Skype, Zoom, Facetime, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts, etc., to crack this case together!  Simply click the Play Now button to purchase tickets for either game and get started!

Want to send it as a Gift Certificate to someone else instead?  Simply select Buy and then “someone else” after hitting the Play Now button to purchase. 🙂

There is no appointment required for game play.

Frequently Asked Questions - Online Games

Can I play alone?
Yes!  As this is completely online and self-directed, with no time limit, you can certainly play this independently.

It is $30 for one code, for one game, for up to 6 devices.
Can I play this with friends overseas in different countries?
Yes! It’s meant to be played by separate households / locations using 1 code for up to 6 players/devices.

It is $30 for one code, for one game, for 6 devices.

Have more than 6 players?  Simply split your group into teams, purchase a code per team, and all players / teams will be able to play simultaneously.
What is required for Gameplay?
  • Web-enabled device(s):  Laptop/Computer recommended - (i.e. not recommended to be played solely on mobile phones or tablets)
  • pen and paper
  • and some puzzling talent!
  • Sections of this game may require utilizing external webpages, social media pages*, including Google Translate.  Please be mindful of any access or server limitations in your company's or personal network set up.
  • If you are playing with someone remotely, you may wish to use some form of communication tool or video conferencing tool - such as FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.  You can use any program of your choice.  This is not required for gameplay, it is used for communicating amongst remote players.
*You do not have to have a social media account to play, as there are workarounds available in the game, however it is more fluid if you do. *Lost Christmas does not have social media content.
Does it have a time limit?

Your play time is unlimited, provided that you crack the case within 1 year of purchase.  Once the case is solved, your access is expired.

Typically requires 90-120 minutes

How does the game work?
The game is a series of webpages / links / images, etc. - All participants will log in to the same webpage to start, and have access to the same documents.  You will be trying to solve a murder mystery (Lockdown) or solve a crime (Lost Christmas, Diamonds Are Forever).  From there you will read case files, review evidence, solve puzzles, and be taken to other links (a series of websites) that you will use to search for clues, in order to solve the case.  You will each have access to all of the pages independently and can click separately on them at any time.  As a result, they can be played at any time, and on as many days as you wish, for up to a year or until the case is solved.
Do we have to use a separate communication tool while playing?

The game is self-contained and for example, you would not need any communication tool if you were working on the same laptop together at home. But if you are located in separate rooms or homes, you would need to login to the computers separately and have something to communicate about the game to each other with - such as FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.  You can use any program of your choice.

Recommended age?
Please see the specific age recommendation on the back of each game's main image above.  These recommendations have been made based on the content of the game itself.

Please note all of our online games are quite challenging - about 4/5 difficulty and are geared towards adults and teens.  In most cases it would make sense to have adults involved in the game play, and we have added the recommendations based on any content that would not be suitable for younger audiences if playing with family.
I'm not sure how many codes to purchase?
When determining how many codes are required, it is more about the number of login/devices that are going to need access to the game's web-based content (i.e. how many laptops or computers are going to log in to play) rather than the number of people.  You can organize your groups however you wish from that point.

1 code = 6 device logins.

Have more than 6 players?  Simply split your group into teams, purchase a code per team, and all players / teams will be able to play simultaneously.
What is the Maximum amount of players who can participate together? (Can we have 100+)
These games are virtually unlimited.  You can have a team of hundreds of people working on this game together, or competitively, by splitting up into smaller groups and working on the same device together, or buy purchasing enough codes that everyone can login independently (and remotely, if preferred) but conference / work together using whichever video conferencing tools you prefer.

1 code = 6 device logins.

Have more than 6 players?  Simply split your group into teams, purchase a code per team, and all players / teams will be able to play simultaneously.
I’m experiencing a tech issue when entering the game codes or answers, what should I do?
If you are attempting to enter into the game, please download your game ticket and ensure to directly copy/paste the entry code into the website access link provided.  Please do not type it manually as the characters are case-sensitive.

If you are experiencing in-game issues with entering answers, we recommend using Chrome – as it seems best for this format – and also to try “refreshing” the page if you encounter any glitches during game play.  Again, answers are case-sensitive.

Unable to log in (not due to entry code error), or slow load times?  We believe that this may be a possible server issue that occurs from time to time (although very infrequently), likely caused by an extremely large number of players logging in from around the world. With technology, sometimes the unexpected happens, and despite our best efforts, there is always be a slight chance of capacity issues on a website server, or other possible technical glitch, as there are a lot of websites and devices involved.  Please allow the page to fully load (usually 2 minutes or less) and once it has loaded, the issues tend to resolve themselves.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Please let us know if you continue to experience issues.
Can more than 6 people play together in one Zoom (Video) Meeting?
Yes!  You can either purchase one code and do a screen share, where one person accesses the webpages and directs the group / enters all website information, or purchase more than one code and all participants can independently and remotely access the webpage on their own device while participating in the Zoom / Video Conferencing Meeting.

Each code is for one game and up to 6 devices.
Can I play this for Date Night with 2 of us in the same household/location?
Yes! Just purchase one code and use one device (or more if you wish!) and play together in the comfort of your home or office

It is $30 for one code, for one game, for up to 6 devices.
We have 36 people in our office and we want to try to solve the case – how do we do this?
We would recommend splitting your group into teams of 6 players and working together to try to solve it.  This can be done by having all 6 players working in different socially-distanced offices logging into their own devices, or by having all members working on the same device.

Alternatively, you can have one player login to the game online and share their screen with all other member of the conference.  This would require only one code regardless of the number of players as you will only be physically signing in on one device and sharing the screen.

Each device login counts as a participant towards the code – so 36 devices require 6 codes. OR 6 devices = 1 code.
